Design trends of tomorrow in Stockholm

Are you looking for tomorrow’s – and the day after tomorrow’s - furniture and interior design trends? The Stockholm Furniture Fair takes a leading position as one of the most interesting fairs. At the fair you can trend-spot the newest furniture- and Scandinavian interior design. 16 interdisciplinary, visionary study projects from Danmarks Designskole are represented here.

Stockholm Furniture Fair – February 6 – 10, 2008.

Thomas Alken, lecturer at Danmarks Designskole says: “We choose to show the width of the students’ design work, not just a narrow selection of top-notch furniture. This exhibition reflects the students’ school projects and includes several semesters and special areas”
This wide spectre of design projects are displayed at the Greenhouse Area, constructed as a village which gives the exhibitors – design schools and young design firms – a possibility to demonstrate playful experiments and furniture ready for production.

Play, Knitting and sponsor agreements
A knitted lamp creates new light, a table promotes social interaction, and flexible modules offer alternative interior design possibilities. The study projects relate to variability, ways of living and social dimensions, as well as crooked and talented ways of adapting, of creating private zones and games, without loosing contact with the producer, the material and marketing.

Eggs, R2D2, wooden furniture and origami-inspired design demonstrate the students’ sense of a long-term furniture tradition – of which Danmarks Designskole is an important part – without being weighed down by the same tradition.

The exhibition pitch demonstrates how Danmarks Designskole’s students are able to combine the best of the past with the desire to set new standards. Several projects have already received special attention and have been sponsored by firms like Kvadrat, Gabriel A/S and Nordic furniture- plastic and textile companies.
