PARK THE CAR - event with the climate brand Penguin Army
The UN Climate Change Conference is coming up, and the world needs to be rescued. The City of Copenhagen is launching a climate initiative, which hopefully will lead to a CO2-neutral city with the help of design students, newly graduated designers from The Danish Design School and a bunch of visual and musical hitmakers under the title PARK THE CAR
PARK THE CAR, September 12, 2009 8-02 PM.
The City of Copenhagen has a CO2-vision. In the year 2025 the city will blossom with life and green spaces. In 2025 Copenhagen will be active, creative, and progressive – and not least – a CO2-neutral city. This is the goal of the City of Copenhagen: To be the leading climate city. To kickstart and make the vision possible the City of Copenhagen is working with Penguin Army, who has placed the climate agenda within a creative process. Penguin Army is a platform for creative climate activism put on the agenda with such great success by the three design students Sille, Louise, and Mathias that Penguin Army reached the final of the prestigious INDEX:Award.
With Penguin Army in front The City of Copenhagen is transforming the basement car parking, normally occupied by the car, to a park of events, design, art and music. PARK THE CAR is launched as a physical preview of the future Copenhagen and celebrates the up-and-coming, the innovative and progressive. That is why you will not only meet the Penguin initiative but also other current and former students from The Danish Design School such as Karen Segal, Stine Tranekjær, Sille Krukow, Ruth Vissing, Louise Ryberg and the design co-operation Surplus Wonder and Hvass&Hannibal.

Get warmed up to COP15 with new design contributes, grass between the trees, lounge in designer hammocks, the sound of fountains and DJs. The sound comes from Specktors, Kasper Bjørke, Djuna Barnes, and the performance group PowerPlant - The CO2 Friendly Band. And, in addition SWET and Orkester34.
PARK THE CAR September 12 2009 8-02PM, The Fisketorvet Basement Car Park, Kalvebod Brygge 59, Cph K. The event is arranged by The City of Copenhagen and Penguin Army. The goal of the event is to motivate young citizens to sustainable behaviour through a different green event and at the same time to intensify the green profile of the city towards COP15.
