Creative Christmas 2010 / 50 years of iconic Danish Design

50 creative interpretations of Denmark’s most renowned iconographic designs showcased at The Danish Embassy in Washington. Students from The Danish Design School and Corcoran College of Art + Design are decorating the Danish Embassy for this year’s Creative Christmas events.

DANISH DESIGN IN WASHINGTON: Two students from The Danish Design School and two students from Corcoran College of Art + Design in Washington DC are working together decorating the Danish Embassy for this year’s Creative Christmas events.

Danish design students Malene Stilling and Mine Neumann have worked on the installation since August together with the two American design students Anna Martin and Scott Clowney.

The theme of the decorations is a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Embassy of Denmark, and the students have made the installation 'Creative Christmas: 50 Years of Iconic Danish Design'.

The installation showcases 50 creative interpretations of Denmark’s most renowned iconographic designs. Through a contemporary vision, a series of 50 trees were designed using fiber, glass, metal, plastic, and wood materials.

Danish-American Collaboration

On December 3 the two Danes arrived in Washington to set up the installations at the Embassy. Before this, the four students have been in contact via Skype, and have worked on different aspects of the installation.

It is the second year in row students from the Danish Design School and Corcoran College of Art +Design have partnered to present the decorations for Creative Christmas at the Embassy of Denmark.

The Embassy will also be opening its doors to the public on Thursday, December 9 from 1-5 p.m., and give everyone a rare and special opportunity to view the installation and collaboration.
