The Danish Design School presents 20 new playful ways of creating textile furnitures.
The students explain the idea behind the exhibition Moving Textiles: "After working with professional Danish craftsmen and designers we developed new technical skills. We experimented with various traditional textile techniques such as knitting, upholstering and plaiting combined with the unconventional materials: plastic, metal, rubber and willow. This process inspired us to our final furniture designs".
Starting with inspiration from the textures and techniques helped the students reverse the process. They did this in order to create more innovative furnitures. The result is 20 very different shapes, expressions, and ways of thinking ”furniture”. What links them together, is the characteristic textile textures.
It will all be on display at Stockholm Furniture Fair and Northern Light Fair 2011.
