The programme supports the scope of innovative, artistic and research-based approaches to design that is required to generate new design profiles for the many environmental, technological and social challenges the world is facing.
The first year of the BA-programme consists mainly of mandatory modules. In the second and third year and in the MA-programme, students choose from the approximately 100 modules offered by the school’s eight areas of specialization each semester. In this way, they can build a unique specialization profile – within and across traditional disciplinary boundaries.
To achieve a strong and balanced mix of practice, theory and material awareness, the programme includes three types of modules:
- Design Projects – the core element of the programmes where students work on specific design assignments – often in collaboration with companies, public institutions, other areas of specialization or study programmes.
- Design theory and method – courses that give the students a theoretical and methodological basis for analyzing design issues.
- Design tools – practical courses where students learn to apply and understand design techniques, tools and materials.
