About my academic research
With a background in graphic design, I investigate the factors in letterforms that can improve the legibility of a typeface in a given context. Through experimental studies where the reader is exposed to alternative versions of a typeface or letter, I study how tested variables affect the reading experience. The aim of the research is to reach a better understanding of the influence shapes in type design has on reading.
In my current research project, I collect existing knowledge on type design and legibility aiming at discussing the various design approaches and scientific theories in an accessible and understandable format.
