Projects
My work is primarily related to book works, I have a career as an illustrator, mainly editorial work for such publications as The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Esquire and Time Magazine. I also write and illustrate children’s books and have worked on animation related to my book titles.

Since an early age I’ve worked in notebooks. Having traveled a great deal these books have served as a method of containing ideas and finished works.

My work at the Danish Design School will primarily be focused on the articulation of a strong picture series, based on my notebook work.

I will also be teaching image and image and in general I hope to make picture making a more relevant part of the design work carried out at the school.

To help accomplish this task I’ve set up studio on campus.which is open to students and staff. i am also curating a series of exhibitions and guest lectures centered around images and image-maker.

Short Resume
Born in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1955, when I was 12 my family Immigrated to the United States. In 1972 I was awarded a full scholarship to attend the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. After one semester, at the advice and encouragement of my tutors I left the Museum School and began working as a freelance illustrator.

In the following years I traveled extensively, throughout the United States, Europe
and Central America.

While traveling I kept "notebooks" filled with icons and ideas from my journeys. I began to produce small Xeroxed books to send to friends and clients. Later my notebooks became my illustration portfolios, I continue to create notebooks and most of my imagery grows out of these.

In 1982 I settled in New York City to pursue illustration full time. A year later my first children book was published. I've since published over 36 children’s books and created 3 animations.

I continue to work as a freelance illustrator for major worldwide. I also create one of a kind and limited edition books and paintings, which are sold in galleries and are in the collections of major museums in the U.S. and abroad.

In 1992 The United States Library of Congress honored me with a solo exhibition of my work. I’ve lectured at Rhode Island School of Design, Parsons School of Design, School of Visual Art graduate Illustration Program in New York and at Art Center College of Art in Pasadena California.

From 1999-2002 I was Adjunct professor of design at UNITEC, school of design, Auckland New Zealand.

I frequently speak at design conferences in the U.S.A. and Europe.
