The programme lasts three years and includes disciplines that are unique to our two main specialties: glass and ceramics. In addition you will encounter a number of interdisciplinary subjects, projects and lecture series that give you a broad basis for taking part in new exciting projects.
The programme includes theory, workshop activities as well as work placement and course activities with visiting lecturers from Denmark and abroad.
Examination
At the end of the first year there is a test to assess whether you meet the required level in all the courses and disciplines. The three years are completed with an examination that documents the qualifications you have acquired throughout your studies.
Advice and counselling
We will support you and your development potential with advice and supervision throughout the programme. On a daily basis you have the unique opportunity of being close to the educational environment virtually around the clock. But we also make sure that your career plans and study activities receive the necessary support. By the end of the first semester, in connection with the independent mid-way project in the third semester, and at the beginning of the fifth semester after your work placement, you will receive assessment and counselling in relation to your work and personal development with a view to your future studies. In addition to the teachers you know from your daily studies we include the best external counsellors and advisors to add new perspectives to your potential.
Work placement – in cooperation with other professionals
Work placement is part of the programme. You arrange your own work placement where you dream of going – be it Japan, Bornholm or New York. Work placement gives you good insight into practical conditions in organizations and companies and prepares you for the future.
In addition to the professional and artistic learning you acquire during your studies, it is essential that you also acquire insights into and an understanding of the highly complex reality you will encounter after graduation. We consider the work placement a crucial part of the overall programme, and encourage a work placement that lets you take part in the widest possible range of processes associated with earning a living as a craftsperson in the field of glass or ceramics. The mandatory three-month work placement takes place during the third semester with well-established craftspeople around the world.
On our part, we pay close attention to the job situation and job market requirements in the field of craft and help you launch your career with Bornholm as your springboard.
