MASTER THESIS
ENFOLDED

My intent with this project was to bridge the barrier between designing for video games and designing for toys. Exploring modern manufacturing methods I wanted to change the method we produce and perceive toys.

Is it possible to design a combination of the virtual experience of games with the physical objects of toys?

The concept is a video game that can be printed using an ordinary printer and folded into paper toys. The idea was to use the creative potential of the common computer and use it as device for production and manufacturing, unleashing the creative potential of its users.
The game uses the principles of Flow to challenge the players. Enabling them to evolve and create their own unique characters as the game progress, teaching them how to create their own toys while having fun.

The story is set in the dream of the player. He has been captured in his own dream as it is being torn to shreds and devoured by vile nightmares. To wake up safely he has defeat these creatures using his power to fold his dreams. Every time the player overcomes a challenge he is rewarded with a new paper model. The ultimate goal of the game being toy models of the vile nightmares themselves.
